Payment service providers in Thailand
Thailand moved to QR and mobile banking faster than most markets: PromptPay QR is accepted almost everywhere, from street vendors to online shops. This page lists {count} payment gateways and payin payout providers working with Thai baht (THB).
Local payment methods in Thailand
- PromptPay: the national instant payment system, by QR, phone number or national ID; also used for payouts to any bank account.
- Mobile banking apps of KBank, SCB, Bangkok Bank, Krungthai and others, with deep-link payments — see bank transfers.
- TrueMoney Wallet, ShopeePay and LINE Pay (Rabbit LINE Pay) for younger and app-first users.
- Cards for travel and cross-border shopping; counter service payments at 7-Eleven for cash users.
Regulation
Payment service providers and e-money businesses are licensed by the Bank of Thailand under the Payment Systems Act. Digital asset businesses are licensed by the SEC Thailand. Most gambling is illegal, so licensed acquirers do not serve gaming merchants, and bank accounts linked to illegal gambling are actively frozen.
Typical verticals and payouts
E-commerce, travel, education, digital goods and remittances are the core verticals. Payouts via PromptPay to bank accounts are cheap and instant, which makes Thailand attractive for marketplaces and gig platforms. Forex and other high-risk merchants usually look for specialised providers and should verify the legal position first.
How to choose a Thai PSP
- PromptPay QR support with dynamic amounts and auto-confirmation
- Bank app coverage and wallet support
- Settlement in THB vs USD, settlement timing
- Payout limits and per-transfer fees
