Overview

Line Pay is a payment system founded in 2015 that works through a mobile app. Users link Visa and Mastercard cards and check out from their smartphones.

How it works

The payment service is built into a mobile app: the buyer chooses it in a web shop or at a point of sale and confirms the payment on the phone. Card details are stored in the app, so there is no need to enter them for each purchase.

Methods

  • Visa.
  • Mastercard.

Coverage

  • Thailand.
  • Taiwan, where the company's legal entity is registered.
  • Japan.

In all three countries mobile wallets are a familiar checkout option, so for a merchant adding this method means reaching buyers who prefer smartphone checkout.

Who it suits

E-commerce sites, restaurants and retail outlets serving customers in Thailand, Taiwan or Japan.

What to clarify

Merchant pricing, settlement timing and integration format are not disclosed publicly, and terms may differ by country.

A Taiwanese company registered in Taipei. Merchants from other countries should confirm contract terms separately for each market.
