Payment processing in Chile
Chile is one of Latin America's most banked markets. Debit cards dominate online payments, credit cards are often used in cuotas, and bank transfers (transferencias electrónicas, instant between Chilean banks) are the main alternative, including pay-by-bank checkouts that pre-fill the transfer. Cash vouchers still serve a smaller share of users. Card acquiring was historically concentrated in a single network and has opened up to multiple acquirers and payment facilitators in recent years. Financial institutions are supervised by the CMF; the Fintech Law (2023) brought payment initiation and crypto services into a regulatory framework. {count} providers on this page declare Chile coverage.
Payment methods in Chile
- Cards — local debit (RedCompra) and credit cards with installments.
- Bank transfer — instant transfers and pay-by-bank; standard payout rail in CLP.
- Cash — vouchers paid at physical points.
- Crypto — used for settlement with offshore partners.
How to choose a PSP in Chile
- Local acquiring: compare approval rates for Chilean debit cards against cross-border routing.
- Transfer UX: does the provider support pay-by-bank with automatic confirmation or only manual transfers?
- Settlement: CLP locally or USD abroad, settlement cycle, rolling reserve.
- Payouts: mass payouts to RUT-linked bank accounts, timing and fees.
- Verticals: online gambling regulation is still being debated, so betting and casino operators should check each provider's risk policy explicitly.
