Wise

Overview

Wise is an international payments service whose business offering combines a multi-currency payment account, FX, international transfers and batch payouts. The main entity, Wise Payments Limited, states that it is an FCA-authorised EMI in the UK (FRN 900507, company number 07209813) and operates as a payment institution in other markets.

Products - a business payment account that can receive money in 22 currencies; - currency conversion and international transfers over SWIFT and local rails; - batch payments to up to 1,000 recipients; - business cards and accounting integrations; - the Wise Platform API for banks and fintechs, and a documented public API.

Clients and fees Wise serves businesses, freelancers, startups and financial institutions. On its UK business page, registration is free, there is no monthly fee, and transaction fees are shown upfront, though some account features are priced separately.

Coverage Payout routes span Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa and Oceania. Account details, balances and business transfers carry their own country and currency restrictions, so a payout route does not mean every product is available there.
