Accepting payments in Turkey
Turkey is one of the most card-intensive markets in Europe and the Middle East. Shoppers expect taksit (installments) on credit cards, and the domestic Troy scheme sits alongside Visa and Mastercard. Bank transfers — havale within the same bank, EFT between banks and the 24/7 FAST instant system with IBAN or alias — are the main alternative and the default payout rail. Payment and e-money institutions are licensed by the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT), banks by the BDDK, and crypto asset service providers fall under the Capital Markets Board. {count} providers on this page declare Turkey coverage.
Payment methods in Turkey
- Cards — local acquiring with installments, 3-D Secure is standard.
- Bank transfer — havale, EFT and FAST, both for pay-in and payouts.
- POS acquiring — physical and virtual POS (sanal POS) from banks.
- Crypto — widely used as a hedge against lira volatility.
How to choose a PSP in Turkey
- Virtual POS vs. aggregator: a bank sanal POS needs a local entity; licensed payment institutions and foreign gateways accept non-resident merchants on different terms.
- Foreign cards and currency: check whether you can accept foreign cards and settle in USD/EUR instead of TRY.
- Installments: who funds the taksit commission and how it affects your net rate.
- Payouts: FAST payouts by IBAN, limits and working hours.
High-risk, betting and P2P
Online betting and casino are illegal domestically except the state operators, so offshore operators searching for a casino or betting payment gateway in Turkey mostly rely on P2P processing via havale/FAST to accounts of teams in Turkey. Ask about account lifetime, daily turnover per IBAN and how blocked accounts are compensated.
