Payments for lottery products

Online lotteries, lottery messengers, sweepstakes casinos, prize competitions and raffle platforms combine many low-value ticket purchases with occasional large payouts to winners. Card schemes treat most of them as gambling (usually MCC 7995; in the US, government-owned lotteries use MCC 7800), so processing depends heavily on licensing and the legal status in each country.

Typical needs in this hub

  • Micropayment-friendly pricing — fixed fees can outweigh the ticket price.
  • Wallet top-ups so that players buy many tickets from one deposit.
  • Winner payouts to cards, bank accounts and e-wallets (payouts).
  • Local methods where cards are rare — mobile money in Africa, UPI in India, PIX in Brazil.
  • Geolocation and age checks to keep traffic in permitted jurisdictions (KYC).

Questions for a lottery PSP

  • Which licences and legal structures does it accept (state lottery reseller, gaming licence, sweepstakes model)? See gaming licensing.
  • Is it processing under a gambling MCC with the issuers' consent, or under a miscoded one (a red flag)?
  • What reserve, settlement frequency and payout limits apply?
  • Does it support recurring ticket subscriptions?

Lottery overlaps with online casinos, sports betting and gaming; many iGaming PSPs serve all of them.

The Companies tab lists lottery and sweepstakes operators, Requests shows their current searches for deposit and payout partners, and Offers shows published terms. Operators post requests describing licences, GEOs and ticket volumes; providers answer or publish terms on the offers board. To reach providers directly, post a request.
