Paytm UPI in context

Paytm is one of the major UPI apps in India alongside PhonePe and Google Pay. When a customer pays "with Paytm" online today, in most cases it is a UPI transaction initiated from the Paytm app using a Paytm handle (for example @ptyes, @ptaxis, @pthdfc, @ptsbi). For a merchant, Paytm UPI acceptance therefore means a UPI integration that works smoothly with Paytm app users, not a separate wallet product.

How payments from Paytm users are accepted

UPI Intent that opens the Paytm app on Android and iOS when selected at checkout.
Dynamic QR scanned in the Paytm app for desktop flows.
Collect requests to a Paytm VPA, where the provider still supports collect.
Payouts and refunds usually over IMPS or UPI to a bank account or VPA, regardless of the payer's app.

What to check with a provider

Intent support specifically tested with Paytm handles, and success rate by app.
Pay-in and payout fees, daily limits per VPA and per merchant.
Settlement in INR or USDT and its frequency.
Whether the provider is a licensed payment aggregator, works via partner banks or via P2P processing.
Refund and dispute handling through NPCI rules.
