About
FinTech Australia is the peak advocacy body for Australia's fintech sector, based in Sydney, with the line "connecting, challenging and advocating". Members sit in policy working groups, and one on wealthtech opened in April 2026.
Recent news
The newsroom is dated and compact. On 4 September 2026 it welcomed the National Financial Innovation Strategy. On 6 August it said capital access and AI would be priorities at Intersekt 2026, which was announced as a festival on 23 July. On 29 June it commented on the government payments report and its finding on fintech's competitive impact, and on 19 June it named the 2026 Finnies Awards winners.
Events and resources
Intersekt is the flagship event; a live webinar on cross-border compliance decisions is scheduled for 28 October 2026. A members directory sits in an ecosystem portal. The site also quotes estimates that consumer data right reforms could add 1.2 billion dollars a year to the economy.
For payments readers
Acquirers, payment facilitators and open banking providers get a view of how Canberra handles payments competition and data sharing, and who from the industry is lobbying on each file.
Payments angle
Tracks Australian payments policy, including the government payments report and consumer data rules, and gives access to policy working groups.
