About

AusPayNet, the Australian Payments Network, is the self-regulatory body that runs the rules for Australia's cards, cash, cheques, direct entry, high-value payments and e-conveyancing. Its blog is where those rules are explained.

Recent posts An October 2026 post on mental health and AI covers supporting industry staff through transformation. In August it looked at the role of the anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism-financing framework in payment systems, and in June at an update to the AS2805 standard for securing electronic funds transfers. A February snapshot of FY25 fraud highlighted card fraud overseas. Older posts cover the AS2805 consultation, safety by design for digital products, a simplified device approval process effective January 2025 and the eConveyancing code.

Why payments people read it AusPayNet publishes the annual card-fraud statistics and sets the security and device rules acquirers and terminal vendors in Australia follow. Following its blog shows which standards are changing, and when.

Merchants, ISOs and processors can use it to prepare for consultations before the changes reach their contracts.
