Overview

Regula develops document reader and biometric SDKs that run fully on-premise. The company was founded in 1992 and lists offices in Reston, Virginia and Riga, Latvia.

Technology The Document Reader SDK recognizes more than 14,000 passport and ID templates. It is complemented by RFID and NFC chip verification and by the Face SDK with liveness detection, which the company says can be deployed 100% on-premise. Keeping processing inside the customer's own infrastructure matters to banks and border agencies that cannot send identity documents to a third party.

Customers Target audiences are KYC providers, banks, airlines, border control, fintech and crypto. Regula states that its software is used by border services in over 100 countries and by hundreds of banks, and that many KYC platforms use its engine under the hood.

Licence model A yearly SDK licence, either on-premise or cloud without passing data to third parties. The company claims no outward data leakage. Prospective buyers should clarify the licence scope per device or volume and the update cycle for document templates.
