A fractional CTO is sourcing a healthcare payment processing API for a client that wants to pay less than it does on Stax today. The brief is a bare-bones processing API without extra layers, plus ACH.
Volume and current pricing Based on the client's June statement: - about $13M in annual card volume, roughly $1.09M a month; - around 590 transactions a month with a $1,830 average ticket; - 1–2 small chargebacks per quarter.
The current all-in rate is 2.50%: 2.20% interchange plus a 12 bps markup, on top of a $1,200 monthly membership and about $140 a month in extras. Earlier estimates of $20M a year and a $7,000 ticket are out of date; the June figures are the ones to quote against. No patient data is collected.
Methods required - card-not-present payments: keyed entry and MOTO; - recurring card charges; - Visa, Mastercard, Amex and Discover; - ACH; - an API covering authorisation, capture, void and refund.
Geography The practice runs on US rails and US pricing; its exact location is not disclosed. Providers with transparent interchange-plus pricing and no flat membership fee should show the savings on this volume.
