About

Nacha is the body that governs the ACH Network, the system behind US direct deposits and direct payments to every bank and credit union account. It writes the operating rules, runs education and accreditation and advises participants.

Recent news

On 9 September 2026 it announced a new Payments Innovation Alliance project team on stablecoins and tokenized deposits. The 12th edition of the ACH Compliance Manual followed on 8 September. A 16 September post marked ten years of Same Day ACH, after Q2 2026 figures released on 30 July showed Same Day ACH driving network growth. An August article explained how Regulation E and the rules fit together.

Rules that affect operations

New operating rule changes target credit-push fraud such as business email compromise and impersonation, setting baseline monitoring duties for financial institutions across the network.

Calendar

The AAP exam window runs 5-31 October 2026, the Payments Legal & Compliance Summit is on 2-3 December 2026, and Smarter Faster Payments 2027 takes place on 11-14 April 2027. A US originator, ODFI or processor can follow rule changes here before they reach the contract stage.

Payments angle

Operating rule changes on credit-push fraud monitoring, Regulation E interplay and Same Day ACH volumes matter to US banks, processors and merchants moving money over ACH.
