About

American Fintech Council, or AFC, is a US trade group for fintech companies, banks and service providers that want responsible innovation under agreed product standards. Its membership runs past one hundred organisations, among them Affirm, DailyPay and Dave, along with banks and law firms.

Policy agenda AFC works on eleven main issues: fintech-bank lending partnerships, embedded finance, earned wage access, buy now pay later, open banking, artificial intelligence, student lending, digital assets and payments. On 13 October 2026 it asked regulators to keep flexibility in Community Reinvestment Act rulemaking, and on 15 October it welcomed Healthcare Finance Direct as a member.

Formats Output includes comment letters, press statements, a webinar series on regulation, a Policy Summit and presence at Money20/20. Press mentions in Law360, the New York Times and Fintech Finance News show how the group is quoted.

Why payments people follow it Many payment products in the US depend on a bank partner. AFC statements show where the sponsor-bank model, BNPL and earned wage access rules are heading, which tells a PSP or program manager what compliance changes to plan for.
