About
Merchant Risk Council is a global non-profit for e-commerce fraud prevention, payments processing and risk management, with more than 25 years behind it. It counts 780+ member organisations, among them 535+ merchants, and over 13,000 payments and fraud professionals from 90+ countries.
Events and learning
MRC Dublin runs on 2-4 November 2026 for members. The call for speakers for MRC São Paulo 2027 closes on 11 November, a free members' virtual summit on tokenization takes place on 17 November, and MRC Connects Buenos Aires is announced as a regional meeting. On the learning side there is the CPFPP (Certified Payments & Fraud Prevention Professional) credential, on-demand courses and a free "Master the Essentials" series.
Topics
Content circles around chargebacks, account takeover, refund abuse, first-party misuse (friendly fraud), card network updates, PSD2 and PSD3 and 3DS mandates. The community side lives on a separate engage platform. A risk manager at a merchant can compare notes with peers, and PSPs see which fraud tools merchants currently shortlist.
Payments angle
Fraud prevention, chargebacks, first-party misuse, tokenization and 3DS mandates are the working topics, with a certification (CPFPP) for payments and fraud staff.
