About
Fintech Notebook is a newsletter offering what it calls a critical take on fintech through product architecture, market structure, customer behaviour and business strategy. Posts come irregularly, with gaps between one and eighteen days, and each is a single analysis of one company or theme.
Recent posts
"Signals About Chime's Stablecoin 'Strategy'" (28 September 2026) reads Chime's stablecoin steps. "When Behemoth Unbundling Hits a Wall" (18 September) deals with large players breaking up their stacks. "$210M Just Made FIS' Biggest Problem Go Away" (3 September) and "The End of Fiserv as We Know It" (17 August) cover the processing giants. "The Finastra Breakup That Isn't Done" (26 August) and "Now What Happens to Alkami?" (12 August) follow banking software.
What makes it different
Where most newsletters summarise the week, this one chooses a single deal or strategy and explains the mechanics behind it. The subject list is heavy on infrastructure companies that sell to banks and credit unions.
For payments readers
Anyone who competes with or sells to FIS, Fiserv, Finastra and other core and processing vendors gets a view of how their strategies and deals change the market.
Payments angle
Analysis of processor and core-vendor consolidation, from FIS and Fiserv to Finastra and Alkami, and of Chime's stablecoin moves.
