About
Finopotamus is a fintech news site for US credit unions, with the tagline "Fintech News for Hungry CUs". It follows the vendors, cores and payment products that credit union executives actually buy.
Series worth knowing
The regular lines are Women in Technology, InfoSec People Profiles, Tech People in the Know, MARKETech, Conference Coverage and TechSolutions4CUs. In September 2026 Women in Technology ran weekly profiles: AttainX's Jill Robb on 1 September, Constant AI's Catherine York Powers on 8 September and Ncontracts' Dr. Maureen Schumacher on 15 September. Roy Urrico's piece on the Splitit World Mastercard, a card made for credit unions and mid-sized financial institutions, sits at the top of the front page. Finopotamus Unscripted is a video discussion hosted by John San Filippo.
Why payments people read it
Credit unions are a distinct buyer: they pick processors, card programmes and core systems differently from banks. Vendors, acquirers and issuer processors can see which products are pitched to CUs and who is speaking at which event. The Tekkies awards and the Press Room show who is launching what.
Payments angle
Coverage of card programmes built for credit unions, such as the Splitit World Mastercard, and of how small issuers choose core and payments vendors.
