Overview
Surfboard Payments is a payment service provider that accepts bank cards through two channels: programmatically via API and at the point of sale on its own terminals. This lets a business combine online and in-person payments with one provider.
How acceptance works - API: developers build card payments into a website, app or POS software and manage payments from their own code; - terminals: physical devices for paying in a shop, café or in the field.
API access is especially handy for companies building their own POS or back-office system: the terminal becomes part of their product and payment data flows straight into their database.
Who it suits - developers of POS systems and vertical software; - retail and service companies with several locations; - businesses that want unified reporting across online and offline sales.
