Overview

Phreesia is a payment facilitator (PayFac) for healthcare in the United States. It processes card payments and collects money from patients right inside a medical organisation's workflows: at booking, at check-in and after the appointment.

Payment methods

  • credit and debit cards;
  • stored card details, so with the patient's consent the clinic can charge without re-entering the card;
  • post-visit bill payments.

Why it matters for clinics

In US healthcare the final amount due is often known only after insurance is processed, so the bill reaches the patient later. A card on file and built-in bill payment reduce outstanding balances and take work off staff who would otherwise send invoices and payment reminders by hand.

The PayFac model

A payment facilitator onboards medical organisations under its own acquiring account, so a clinic does not need a separate agreement with a bank.

Who it suits

Clinics, medical practices and health systems in the US. Processing costs are not published.
