Moneris is a Canadian payment acquirer and processor founded in 2000 and created as a joint venture of RBC and BMO. The operating entity is Moneris Solutions Corporation. A sale to Francisco Partners was announced on 10 August 2026, subject to closing.
Services - Merchant acquiring in stores and online. - POS and mobile payments. - E-commerce acceptance. - Embedded payments for software platforms and branded products for partners. - Fraud prevention and risk management.
Supported card networks are Visa, Mastercard and Interac. The core customer base is retail.
Published rates for Canada Moneris publishes a simplified rate: 2.65% plus CAD 0.10 for in-person credit cards and 2.85% plus CAD 0.30 for card-not-present. Interac and subscription payments are priced differently.
Partner program Moneris invites ISOs, integrators, app developers, industry associations and corporate partners to sell its payment solutions. Partners receive a dedicated manager, training, help onboarding clients and portfolio reporting. This suits companies selling POS software or serving small businesses.
