Overview
KSNET is a payment processing company in the South Korean market. It processes merchants' payment transactions and connects them with the country's banks and payment networks.
The processor's role in Korea
The Korean payment system is largely closed to outside players: buyers use local cards, and banks work through national intermediaries. Processing companies like this one receive data from terminals and online checkouts, route it for authorisation and handle settlement. For a merchant this is a single point of connection instead of contracts with each issuer.
Who needs it
- Retail chains and restaurants with outlets in Korea.
- Online services selling to Korean buyers that want to accept local cards.
- Foreign companies setting up a business in the country.
Coverage
South Korea is the only stated market.
What to clarify at onboarding
Supported methods, integration format (terminals, online gateway or API), pricing and settlement timing are not described publicly. A foreign business should find out early whether a Korean entity or local partner is required.
