Overview

INSTO is a payment gateway operating in Taiwan and the United States. It accepts the major international cards and Apple Pay, and getting started is simple for merchants: applying is free and there is no monthly fee.

Payment methods

  • Visa and Mastercard — the core international cards.
  • JCB — a Japanese card scheme widely used across Asia; in Taiwan, support for it is especially useful for tourists and local cardholders.
  • Apple Pay — payment from an iPhone or Apple Watch without typing in card details.

This mix suits businesses serving both local customers and visitors from Japan and other Asian countries.

Cost

  • Application — free.
  • No monthly fee.

The per-transaction rate is not published: it is quoted after the application is reviewed, depending on the type of business and turnover. No subscription fee is especially good for small sellers and seasonal businesses with near-zero sales in some months.

Coverage
