Overview

eSewa is a digital wallet from Nepal that also works as a payment tool for businesses. Companies add eSewa as a payment option, and shoppers pay from their wallet balance without entering card details.

How it works

The user tops up the wallet and confirms the purchase in the app. For the merchant it is a local payment method Nepali customers already know: in a country where bank cards are less widespread than in Europe, a wallet is often the main way people pay online.

Who it suits

  • web shops and services selling to people in Nepal;
  • companies with subscriptions or bill payments;
  • foreign businesses entering the Nepali market that need a method local buyers trust.

Getting connected

The service runs a separate developer portal for integration. Fees, settlement times and merchant requirements are not published and are shared once you apply. If your business is registered outside Nepal, check in advance whether non-resident merchants are accepted and which currency settlement will be made in.
