Overview
ClickPesa is a payment gateway from Tanzania that merchants use to collect payments and send payouts. It brings together three channels: mobile money, bank transfers and cards.
Methods
- mobile money, the main way to pay in Tanzania and East Africa, where many people keep funds on a phone account rather than in a bank;
- bank transfers;
- bank cards.
Mobile money support is critical in the local market: without it, a store loses most of its customers.
Collections and payouts in one gateway
The gateway works both ways. You can collect payments from customers and use the same service to pay recipients such as partners, staff or borrowers.
Who it serves
Listed client segments include:
- microfinance institutions, which need both to disburse loans and to collect repayments;
- small and medium businesses selling online or by invoice.
Coverage and terms
The service operates in Tanzania. Fees for collections and payouts, limits and settlement timing are not published and are discussed during onboarding.
