Overview
Circle is the issuer of the USDC and EURC stablecoins and the developer of institutional settlement infrastructure built around them. Founded in 2013, it is based in Boston with a presence in Paris, and the company states licences in the United States, the EU under MiCA (France), Singapore and the United Kingdom.
Products - Circle Mint, an institutional on- and off-ramp for 1:1 minting and redemption of USDC (USD) and EURC (EUR); - Circle Payments Network for stablecoin-settled payments; - Programmable MPC Wallets and a Gas Station; - Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) for moving funds between networks; - liquidity management and institutional stablecoin FX.
Access and rails Approved companies exchange fiat for supported stablecoins and back through bank transfers, SEPA and international wires, so a business has a direct route between its bank account and a dollar or euro stablecoin. Access to specific rails and assets depends on the client's jurisdiction. According to the company, Mint is open to organisations in more than 185 countries; individuals are not onboarded.
Pricing and integration Minting USDC is stated as free, and Programmable Wallets are pay-as-you-go. Connection is via the public API at developers.circle.com. The infrastructure suits PSPs, banks, exchanges, remittance firms and Web3 apps.
