Overview
Baofoo is a payment processor based in China. It processes payments for businesses in the Chinese market: it receives transactions from merchants, routes them for processing and handles settlement.
The Chinese market
China's payment landscape works differently from Europe or the US: local shoppers are used to national payment systems and mobile services, and working with them requires a local partner familiar with domestic regulation. An in-country processor solves this for companies that need to accept payments from Chinese customers.
Who it suits
- companies selling goods and services to buyers in China;
- e-commerce platforms operating in the local market;
- international businesses that need an in-country processing partner.
Geography
China is the only market stated.
What to clarify before onboarding
Supported methods, pricing, settlement timing and merchant requirements are not listed on the card. Before connecting, it is worth asking:
- which payment methods are available for your type of business;
- in which currency and how quickly settlement happens;
- whether a local legal entity is required.
Baofoo answers these questions after reviewing the application.
