Overview

Alliance Bank is a Malaysian bank that offers business customers merchant acquiring under the Alliance Merchant Solutions programme. The programme combines POS, e-wallets, a payment gateway and recurring payments, so a merchant can accept payments in store and online while keeping a business account at the same bank.

Services

  • merchant acquiring;
  • POS terminals;
  • e-commerce payments through a payment gateway;
  • recurring payments;
  • API integration.

Accepted methods include bank cards and e-wallets, which a large share of Malaysian shoppers use for smaller purchases, and instalment payments for bigger purchases such as electronics or furniture.

Eligibility

The programme is meant for businesses registered and operating in Malaysia that hold an Alliance business current account. An online shop also needs a working website.

Fees

The bank advertises an MDR, the merchant discount rate, from 0.5%. The actual rate is subject to the offer made to the merchant, and settlement times are agreed in the contract.

Why a bank acquirer

The contract, business account and settlement sit with one counterparty, sales proceeds arrive in an account at the same bank and payment questions go to one support team. Alliance Bank suits Malaysian retailers and online sellers that need cards, wallets and instalments through one connection.
