Online crypto-to-fiat exchange
Crypto-to-fiat exchangers buy and sell digital assets against fiat money by bank transfer, card or local payment method. For payment businesses this is the off-ramp and on-ramp: turning USDT settlements into money in a bank account, or buying USDT to fund payouts, prefunding and partner settlements.
Typical directions
- USDT to EUR or GBP via SEPA or Faster Payments.
- USDT to USD via SWIFT or local US rails.
- USDT to local currency: INR, BRL (PIX), MXN, ARS, COP, TRY, NGN, PHP, IDR, AED and others.
- Fiat to USDT for businesses that settle with crypto-native partners.
What to compare
- Spread and fees: the gap between buy and sell price plus any fixed or bank fees; compare the net amount.
- Payout rails: which banks and methods the exchanger pays to, and whether it pays to third-party accounts (many do not).
- Speed: time from crypto receipt to fiat credit, including weekends.
- Limits: per order and per month; higher tiers usually require full KYB.
- Compliance: licences or registrations in the jurisdictions where they operate, KYC/KYB process, source-of-funds questions; see VASP licensing.
- Wallet screening: whether incoming crypto is checked and how flagged funds are handled.
- Business accounts: API, corporate onboarding, dedicated account manager.
Exchanger or something else?
- Recurring large volumes: an OTC desk often gives tighter pricing.
- Paying many recipients in fiat from stablecoins: see stablecoin settlement and mass payouts.
- Need a bank account that accepts crypto-derived funds: see crypto-friendly banks.
