Banking a crypto business
Exchangers, OTC desks, crypto processors and token projects all need fiat rails at some point — to pay salaries, receive client funds or settle with liquidity providers. Many banks still restrict accounts that send or receive money from crypto platforms. This subsection lists crypto friendly banks and institutions that state they onboard crypto companies.
What "crypto friendly" usually means
It ranges widely. Some banks only tolerate occasional transfers from regulated exchanges to an ordinary business account. Others offer dedicated services for VASPs: client money accounts, high transaction limits, instant settlement networks between clients and connections to stablecoin issuers. Ask exactly which flows are allowed before applying.
Typical expectations from the bank
- A VASP or CASP registration or licence where the activity requires one.
- Documented AML framework, an MLRO and KYT tooling for incoming coins.
- Clear description of counterparties: which exchanges, OTC desks and wallets you use.
- Source-of-funds evidence for founders' crypto holdings.
- Projected volumes and the share of crypto-related flows.
What to compare
- Account currencies and rails: SEPA, SWIFT, Faster Payments, USD correspondent access.
- Whether client funds can be held (segregated accounts) or only operating money.
- Fees, minimum balances and onboarding fees.
- Track record: how stable the bank's crypto policy has been over time.
Alternatives and neighbours
If a bank is out of reach, an EMI or a business account provider with crypto tolerance may fit. To convert between crypto and fiat without your own banking, look at OTC desks, crypto-fiat exchangers and stablecoin settlement.
Country pages include Switzerland, UAE and Singapore. Check Offers and post a request if needed. Banks decide on onboarding themselves.
