Legal Counsel (Fintech, Acquiring & Payments)

A payments company is hiring a Legal Counsel for a new international fintech project, full-time and remote, with the chance to build the legal infrastructure from scratch.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the full-cycle purchase and incorporation of several financial licences in parallel, mainly in the UK
• Set up companies for the structure, working with registrars and corporate agents and choosing jurisdictions
• Agree the beneficial owner with regulators and prepare the document package
• Fund companies within the group
• Assess the tax side of the structure
• Select external advisers, run due diligence and collect formal opinions

Requirements

• Independent management of at least one project to obtain or acquire a financial licence (PI, EMI or similar)
• Experience with UBO approval and its document package
• Understanding of corporate and holding structures and intra-group funding
• Experience in payments, fintech or financial services
• Knowledge of financial regulation, preferably UK/EU: PSD/PSR, GDPR
