About
The U.S. Faster Payments Council is an industry-led membership organisation whose stated goal is a payment system where anyone can safely pay anyone, anywhere, at any time, with near-immediate funds availability. Its guiding principles are fairness, inclusiveness, flexibility and transparency, and it recruits members from every stakeholder type in the US payment system.
Recent publications
The media centre lists the council's latest output. On 22 July 2026 it published a report exploring stablecoins for cross-border payments, on 13 July a white paper on ERP-embedded instant payments, and on 30 June it announced its 2026 board of directors. Media enquiries go to Elizabeth Grice.
Working groups
The council organises work groups on adoption of faster payments, and its papers tend to be practical: how instant rails plug into the accounting software a business already uses, for instance.
Who gains
Banks and credit unions planning RTP or FedNow offerings, fintechs building on instant rails, corporates looking at faster receivables and policy teams watching US real-time payment adoption.
Payments angle
US instant-payment adoption: white papers on ERP-embedded instant payments and stablecoins in cross-border flows, for banks, fintechs and corporates.
