About
The Secure Technology Alliance is a member-driven US organisation working on identity, access and payments. Its payments arm, the U.S. Payments Forum, brings merchants, issuers, processors, networks and mobile payment providers into one room.
Two forums, one knowledge base
The Alliance runs the U.S. Payments Forum and the Identity & Access Forum. The payments side handles EMV, tokenisation, encryption and mobile payments, along with card-not-present fraud mitigation. The identity side covers mobile driver's licences and other digital credentials, and the two meet at the annual summit, which in 2024 grew from the 15-year-old Payments Summit into an Identity & Payments Summit. The 2023 edition in Salt Lake City drew over 400 professionals and 77 speakers on wallets, digital currencies, BNPL and fraud.
What you can pull from it
The Knowledge Center holds white papers, FAQs, infographics, position papers and webinars, including recent material on dynamic security code cards as a defence against CNP fraud. Working committees and networking need membership. For US issuers, acquirers and PSPs it shows where card-security standards are heading.
Payments angle
Where US card-security practice is worked out: U.S. Payments Forum papers on EMV, tokenisation, encryption, mobile payments and card-not-present fraud mitigation.
