About

The Fintech Association of Japan is a general incorporated association for fintech development in Japan. Membership has two classes, venture members (startups) and corporate members (established firms), and work happens in subcommittees on specific topics.

What the site shows

The news feed is in Japanese and runs on a regular rhythm. On 1 October 2026 the association announced seven new venture members approved in September. On 28 September it posted interviews with its executive directors, among them Natalie Shiori Fleming of Invest Tokyo, and noted her speaking slot at the Tokyo-London Financial Innovation Seminar 2026.

Events

The flagship is Japan Fintech Week, held annually. The association also runs the FAJ Meetup series for members and the public, an annual summer meetup with the Financial Services Agency, and co-hosts international conferences. It keeps channels on Facebook, X, LinkedIn and YouTube.

For payments readers

Monthly new-member posts are a quick way to see which payment, remittance and wallet startups are entering the Japanese market. The FSA meetup and subcommittee work signal what regulators are discussing, which helps foreign PSPs planning a Japan launch.

Payments angle

Shows which Japanese fintechs join the association each month and where FAJ meetups and Japan Fintech Week put payments on the agenda.
