Kraken is a crypto platform group whose services span a spot exchange, an OTC desk and a Wyoming-chartered bank. It combines retail and institutional access in one provider family, so the details below depend on which entity serves the client.

Exchange and trading Kraken offers spot trading, Kraken Pro, Convert and Swap functions and an API. Exchange accounts are custodial and support crypto-to-crypto and fiat-to-crypto pairs, with assets such as BTC, ETH, SOL and XRP. Fees follow a maker/taker model that depends on market, order role and volume; the published range runs from -0.02% for makers to 0.80% for takers. Verification is required for deposits and trading, and limits depend on the level and country.

OTC desk The OTC desk serves institutions and high-net-worth individuals with spot and derivatives execution outside the order book, through chat, an RFQ in Kraken Pro or trading from Kraken Custody. The minimum size is USD 50,000, lowered from USD 100,000 on 11 March 2025. Settlement is automatic within seconds against a funded balance, or within 24 hours under eligible flexible terms.

Kraken Financial Kraken Financial, part of Payward, is a Wyoming special purpose depository institution supervised by the Wyoming Division of Banking. It provides institutional digital-asset custody and fiat deposit accounts for eligible clients. Deposits are not FDIC insured, fiat is fully reserved, and product and geographic limits apply.
