Overview
KCB Bank Uganda is the Ugandan subsidiary of KCB Group, offering merchant acquiring for businesses that accept card payments in store. The bank's acquiring proposition is built around point-of-sale terminals, and operates as a limited company under the same name.
Card acceptance The bank lists a broad set of card schemes for its POS service: Visa, Mastercard, JCB, UnionPay, Maestro and Verve. This lets a merchant take international debit and credit cards as well as the Verve scheme at the same terminal. The offer is aimed at physical retail and service points rather than online checkout.
Pricing and set-up According to the bank, POS deployment is provided at no cost to the merchant. Processing rates are not published, so the merchant discount rate, settlement timing, chargeback handling and any minimum volumes have to be agreed directly with the bank during onboarding.
Who it suits The service fits Ugandan merchants that want a bank-backed acquiring relationship and card acceptance across several international and regional schemes, backed by the wider KCB Group network. Companies comparing acquirers in Uganda should request a written tariff and settlement schedule before deciding.
