Overview
Co-operative Bank of Kenya offers merchant acquiring and business banking in Kenya. Its card acceptance covers PDQ and POS terminals and the ChapaPay online solution.
Acquiring
According to the bank, merchants can take card payments in shops through PDQ/POS devices and online through ChapaPay. Companies that do not hold a main account with Co-op can still be served, which opens the service to businesses banking elsewhere. The corporate page publishes merchant rates and states that no installation fee is charged for a terminal.
Business accounts
The bank also lists business bank accounts. Account types, currencies, card networks and minimum deposits differ depending on the legal entity and market involved, and the profile gives no figures for them.
Who it suits
The services fit Kenyan retailers, hospitality and service businesses, and online sellers that want an acquirer connected to a local bank network. A company should obtain the current rate card and ask about settlement timing, supported card brands and any minimum deposit before choosing between the terminal and online options.
