Overview
Capitec Business is the business banking arm of Capitec in South Africa, offering accounts denominated in ZAR. The profile also covers the former Mercantile Bank, which is included as an earlier name of the business rather than as an additional provider.
Two account routes
The Capitec Business Account is meant for companies registered with CIPC, South Africa's companies registry. A separate Entrepreneur account is offered to entrepreneurs who have not registered a company, so sole traders and early-stage ventures can start banking before formal incorporation.
Fees and balance
The Business Account carries a published monthly fee of ZAR 50. A minimum balance of ZAR 150 is stated for the product. These are the only price points given, and the company does not detail transaction charges here, so a business that expects many payments should ask about per-transaction costs.
Who it suits
The offer suits South African small and medium businesses, as well as informal entrepreneurs, that need a low-cost current account in rand. Companies requiring foreign-currency accounts or advanced treasury services should confirm availability with the bank, as only ZAR is listed.
