Altery

Altery provides electronic payment accounts and money transfers through two licensed entities. Altery Ltd is the UK electronic money institution, listed under FCA number 901037, and Altery EU Ltd is the EU entity authorised by the Central Bank of Cyprus under number 115.1.3.61.

Entities and regulation The UK company number is 06984177, and the Cyprus company number is HE415141. The UK entity is based at One Canada Square in London, and the EU entity at Kolonakiou Street in Limassol. The service in Europe, Altery EU, is currently in limited early access, so it is not open to every applicant.

Client funds For the UK service, the company states that funds are safeguarded under FCA rules. E-money held there is not covered by the FSCS, which is the normal position for an EMI and differs from a bank deposit. Anyone opening an account should check which entity will hold their balance.

Integration Altery links to developer documentation for its UK service, which suggests that account and payment functions can be connected programmatically. Fees, currencies, limits and onboarding requirements are not given in the material and should be requested from the company.
