Overview
Access Bank Kenya is the Kenyan bank of the Access Bank group that offers merchant acquiring to businesses accepting card and mobile-money payments. The product range covers POS terminals and e-commerce acceptance, with support for Visa and Mastercard cards as well as M-Pesa.
Services and requirements Merchants can take payments in store through POS or online through e-commerce acceptance. According to the product documentation, a merchant must hold an account with the bank. The offering is a bank acquiring service rather than a standalone payment gateway, so it suits companies that already plan to bank locally and want card and mobile-wallet acceptance under one relationship.
Published pricing The bank states that PDQ acquisition is free of charge. Merchant commission ranges from 1.7% to 2.5% depending on monthly volume, and M-Pesa payments are priced at 1%. In practice, higher monthly turnover points to the lower end of the card commission range. Settlement timing, terminal rental and any additional fees are not given in the material, so these conditions are worth confirming with the bank before signing a merchant agreement.
