RinggitPay is a payment gateway and payment services provider for businesses in Malaysia. The name refers to the ringgit, the national currency, and the service is indeed focused on the domestic market.
The gateway's job
A payment gateway sits between the seller's website and the banks: it takes the buyer's details, sends the charge request and reports the result back to the store. Through the gateway a merchant connects payment methods and gets transaction statistics.
Why a local gateway
- shoppers see familiar payment methods and pay in ringgit;
- no unnecessary currency conversion for the merchant;
