개요
FlexPay is a Kenyan payment service built on the save-now-buy-later model. A merchant embeds it into their website or app, and the shopper pays in small amounts, receiving the item once the full price has been saved.
How the model works
- the customer picks an item and starts saving towards it at the merchant;
- contributions arrive gradually, at a pace that suits the buyer;
- the purchase completes once the full price is collected.
Unlike buy-now-pay-later, no debt is created: the merchant carries no repayment risk and the shopper pays no credit interest.
Who it is for
It suits shops and services in Kenya whose customers cannot pay the whole amount at once but want to lock in a purchase. It helps keep demand for higher-priced goods without offering credit.
