Barclaycard payment acceptance is provided by Barclaycard Payments, a payment acceptance company wholly owned by Barclays Group (the business is also searched as Barclays merchant services). Its FAQ names Barclaycard Payments Limited as a merchant acquirer and explains that electronic money is used for settlement with merchants, not as a bank account.
