Mifos Community

Mifos Community is the volunteer network behind the Mifos Initiative, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that promotes technology-enabled financial inclusion. Developers, implementers and microfinance practitioners meet there to build open-source software for institutions serving underbanked customers.

Projects you can join

Mifos X is the core platform with flexible product setup, client management and accounting. A dedicated team works on the Mifos Mobile app. Payment Hub EE, documented at payments.mifos.org, is the payment-orchestration component, and Apache Fineract provides the backend. Anyone building an instant-payment switch or a lending system on open source can see how these pieces fit.

How the community works

Slack is the main channel, with separate mailing lists for users and developers plus the Apache Fineract lists. Developers hold weekly virtual working groups, and online meetups run through the week. Local Mifos Chapters are volunteer groups, a Community Council acts as a neutral governing body, and a Code of Conduct applies.
