Refinitiv World-Check

Refinitiv World-Check is a high-risk database covering sanctions, politically exposed persons, state-owned enterprises and adverse media. It is owned by the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) and has been operating since 2000, based in London.

Products Access is through World-Check One, available as an API and a portal, as a downloadable data feed, with ongoing screening and enhanced due diligence reports. Ongoing screening re-checks a customer base against list updates, which is the routine task for regulated firms after onboarding.

Audience Listed users are banks, acquirers, PSPs, EMIs, crypto exchanges and law firms. The company describes coverage as global, across 240+ countries and territories. The database is widely treated as an industry standard that correspondent banks expect during audits.

Licensing An enterprise annual licence. Payment institutions should ask which data modules, search volumes and API calls the licence includes, and how list updates are delivered.
