SMB Global Payments helps merchants in higher-risk segments find a merchant account. The company finds high-risk accounts for online sales, physical stores and MOTO processing.
What a high-risk account is
Many acquiring banks turn away businesses with high chargeback rates, recurring billing or an unusual niche. A high-risk account is opened with acquirers willing to take on such clients, usually with a reserve, a higher rate and closer monitoring. The broker's job is to understand the business profile and find a bank that will accept it.
Channels and methods
- Online — card acceptance on a website.
- Offline — payment at a physical point of sale.
- MOTO (mail order / telephone order) — charging card details the customer gave over the phone or by mail.
- ACH — US bank debits from the buyer's account.
Worth knowing
The company states that it works with higher-risk industries, but approval for a given business is not guaranteed: the acquiring bank decides after reviewing documents and sales history. Rates, reserves and review times are not listed here.
