개요
Redsys is a company that provides card processing and payment gateway infrastructure for merchants. It handles the technical side: how a card payment travels from the buyer to the bank and how the result comes back.
Processing and gateway
- the gateway captures card details on a website or terminal and passes them on;
- processing handles the transaction: authorises it, clears it and records it for settlement.
When both functions sit with one provider, the merchant has fewer links in the chain and therefore fewer points where a payment can get lost or delayed.
How merchants work with it
Infrastructure companies of this kind often work through acquiring banks: the store signs with a bank, and the processing platform does the technical handling. When choosing a solution, it helps to ask which acquirer your connection will go through.
