PSP and acquiring: the difference
- A PSP (payment service provider) gives the merchant the technical connection: a payment page, transaction processing and a dashboard with reports.
- An acquirer handles settlement: it receives money from the buyer's bank and credits it to the seller's account.
When both roles are combined, the merchant signs one contract instead of two and receives payouts from the same company that processes the payments. This simplifies onboarding and dispute handling.
Who it is for
The description does not limit industries or name countries. The service may suit online stores that need web checkout as well as businesses accepting cashless payments in other channels, but the exact product set needs to be confirmed.
