G-Money Financial Services LTD is a Ghanaian company included in the Bank of Ghana's public list of approved institutions in the Dedicated Electronic Money Issuer category. Put simply, it is a licensed e-money issuer whose core business is issuing electronic money.
What EMI status means
An electronic money issuer creates digital funds backed by real money and runs user e-wallets. Through these wallets people and businesses pay for purchases, send money to each other and receive payouts. Dedicated EMI status means the company exists specifically for this activity and is not a bank.
The Ghanaian market
Ghana is one of the most active mobile money markets in West Africa. E-wallets there often replace a bank account, so working with a local EMI helps reach customers who do not have cards.
