A US fantasy-sports startup is looking for fantasy sports payment processing before its paid feature goes live. It wants a provider that will pre-underwrite paid-entry contests and explain which legal opinions and reserves an acquirer would expect.
What the founder needs - underwriting for contest entry fees with fixed, pre-announced prizes; - clarity on the legal opinion a bank would accept; - reserve requirements; - age checks and geoblocking for players.
Where the project stands The service has roughly 800 users and is currently free to play. The paid feature has not launched, so there is no processing history yet. The founder describes the contests as skill-based, but that is the founder's own view: lawyers and the acquirer will need to review it state by state, and a US LLC on its own does not settle the question.
Geography and methods Both the merchant and the players are in the United States; specific states are not named. The need is contest entry collection under high-risk merchant processing. Providers that already handle fantasy sports and skill games in the US can share their KYC, reserve and licensing expectations at this early stage, so the product is built around an acquirer's rules from day one.
