BNY, formerly known as BNY Mellon, is a New York bank headquartered at 240 Greenwich Street. Two of its institutional services are relevant here: digital-asset custody and escrow administration.

Digital Asset Custody

The platform serves institutional investors and combines safekeeping of digital and traditional assets with segregated wallets, settlement and accounting. The official service page states that segregated wallets run with operational controls and bank oversight. The legal entity is The Bank of New York Mellon, though the exact service entity is confirmed per mandate. This is a custody service for institutions; it is not evidence that crypto businesses can open ordinary fiat accounts.

Escrow and trust

BNY provides escrow administration and project-finance trustee services for financial projects. Independent administration includes cash management, staged release of funds and tailored documentation, supported by trustee and agency services.

Who it suits

Asset managers, funds and other institutions that want a large custodian to hold digital assets next to traditional holdings, and sponsors of structured or project transactions that need a neutral escrow agent. Pricing is set by mandate and should be requested.
