परिचय
Mostro community is the hub around Mostro, a non-custodial peer-to-peer bitcoin exchange built on the Lightning Network and Nostr. Trades run without KYC and without anyone holding the funds: the bitcoin sits in Lightning hold invoices until both sides confirm.
How the exchange works
A user installs a Lightning wallet such as Phoenix, Mutiny or Zeus, opens the Mostro mobile app or web client with Nostr keys, and creates or takes a buy or sell order. Messages are encrypted with NIP-59 gift wraps, and when a trade goes wrong, community admins mediate the dispute. The software is open source and permissionless, so anyone can run their own node. Android is available, iOS is announced as coming soon.
What the community does
The community programme helps local bitcoin groups launch and run their own Mostro nodes, with technical guidance, setup help and a path into the official app. The site comes in English and Spanish and carries a call to action for people who want to join. Support channels are Telegram (MostroP2P), GitHub, Nostr and X. Backing comes from the Human Rights Foundation and OpenSats.
P2P traders and would-be node operators can see the model for fiat-to-bitcoin trades with no custodian.
